MAITLAND EVANGELICAL CHURCH, The Servant’s Church - (formerly Maitland Mission) was founded in 1907 by Miss Maitland Roy as a place of worship for the maids and servants who waited upon the ‘Lords and Ladies’ of Oxton.
Whilst the latter would be welcomed, on payment of the appropriate pew rent, at other local churches, the domestic staff were able to meet free of charge at the Mission. 1 Peter 5:7

We are just a bunch of ordinary people - teachers, police, child-minders, students, housewives, pensioners, unemployed, school kids and lots more -
We believe that ‘church’ means people not property - a body of people not a building of bricks.
People matter

We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son and that after he died on the cross he rose again and he is alive today.
We talk to him in our prayers and expect that he will hear us and answer us.
We believe that the Bible is God’s word and contains the answers to all the problems we may meet in life.
We believe that God is love and he has a plan for each one of us.
